Also called the "banana plant," Musa is a tropical showstopper.  The official name of the Banana Plant, ‘Musa’, comes from the Arabic word “Mauz.” This is derived from the word “Muz,” which means fruit in ancient Persian. Often, a banana plant is also called a banana tree.  There are 83 different species! All of them have the potential to produce bananas or plantains under the right (tropical) conditions!

These plants love a bit of attention when it comes to water. Give them a drink when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry, making sure the soil is well-draining so it stays moist but never soggy. 

 Musa plants are sun seekers at heart, thriving on about 6–8 hours of bright, indirect light each day. They can handle a little direct sun, especially if you ease them into it slowly. If indoor light is on the dim side, a grow light can be a game-changer.
