12 Vegan Recipes Perfect for Plant People

Did you know there’s a World Vegan Day? It’s true, and it’s this week! World Vegan Day is Thursday, November 1, 2018, and we’re sharing some plant-based recipes to celebrate. After all, at Wild Interiors™, we love plants. Just don’t eat any houseplants, okay?

Try your favorites this week for World Vegan Day. Even if you’re not vegan, you can try these delicious recipes and incorporate a few plant-based meals or sides in your rotation. Plus, Thanksgiving is only three weeks away!

Starters

No feast is complete without an appetizer or two, so let’s get the ball rolling with some snacky starters.

This Spinach Artichoke Dip from Minimalist Baker packs in the cheesy, creamy flavor of its namesake without the dairy, making it a perfect treat for anyone who needs to dial down the lactose or vegans who miss this delicacy from their past omnivore life.

Loaded Baked Potato Skins a la Forks Over Knives are a great option for appetizers since you can so easily customize them based on what you have on hand. Crumble a little of this and a little of that over top to add your own signature style.

Finally, whip up a batch of these very convincing Vegan Crab Cakes from Veganosity to really bring your A-game to this whole vegan thing. Committed plant-based dieters and omnivores alike will love the flavor combinations at play.

Sides

Everyone knows the best part of Thanksgiving is the sides, so check out these plant-based goodies to get your favorites on the meal plan for the big day in a few weeks.

A more veggie-based take on traditional potatoes, this Root Veggie au Gratin from One Green Planet looks decadent and creamy. It uses celeriac, parsnip, turnip, and rutabaga instead of potatoes (but we won’t blame you if you use potatoes too… who doesn’t love potatoes?). Add a bit of nutritional yeast to the cashews for even more cheesy creaminess.

It’s easy to assume vegans eat a ton of salad and greens, but there’s a lot more to a plant-based diet than a nonstop parade of salads. However, this Roasted Vegetable Salad with Chimichurri from Minimalist Baker will up your salad game. There is so much more going on than a handful of power greens.

If you think you hate brussels sprouts, try them roasted before writing them off forever. And there’s no need for bacon with this Crispy Brussels Sprouts recipe from Oh She Glows. She recommends using pomegranate to accent and give an extra pop of flavor.

Entrees

Move over, veggie burgers. We’ve got some great options for vegan main dishes, whether you’re planning a vegan Thanksgiving or just want to get your veg on for meatless Monday.

Apple, Fennel, and Sage Lentil Loaf from The Simple Veganista will become a plant-based go-to in your kitchen, regardless of your usual diet. It is the perfect fall and winter main course, loaded with protein-packed lentils and a variety of veggies you can mix and match to your choosing. Bake it in muffin tins for perfect portions.

If you’re craving a good old fashioned sandwich, try this meaty and flavorful Vegan Tempeh Reuben recipe from Vegetarian Times. Tempeh readily takes on the flavor of marinades which makes it a great versatile addition to a more plant-based diet.

If you’ve never been to Spain, you should go. If you’ve never tried paella, you should do so immediately. Delicious Everyday has a recipe for Vegan Paella that is mouthwateringly gorgeous and full of flavor.

Desserts

The time of holiday desserts and cookies approaches. Wow your friends and family with these vegan twists on holiday favorites!

No dairy, no problem - this quick and easy Vegan Fudge recipe from Cookie and Kate will knock your socks off. Try sprinkling some crushed peppermint candies on top for a festive touch.

These cute little Coconut Snowballs from The Kitchn are easy to whip up for a last minute vegan treat. You can play around with flavor extracts as the holidays progress, playing with mint, rum, or even lemon flavors.

Regardless of your holiday persuasions, you cannot go wrong with these five-ingredient Peppermint Mocha Date Balls from Feasting on Fruit. They’re perfect for snacking, post-workout recovery, or pretending like eating the whole batch is fine because they’re fruit and fruit is healthy.

Now that we’re positively starving and can’t wait to try these recipes out for ourselves, we wish you a happy World Vegan Day. Tell us what you make on Instagram when you tag us @wild_interiors.

PS. Even though you might be snacking and enjoying fall beverages, your plants don’t need as much to drink in the cooler months, and they don’t need fertilizer either. Eat, drink, and be merry - but don’t extend the sentiment to your indoor plants!
