Plants for Every Room in the House

Have you ever walked into a room and thought that there’s just something missing? The space may be beautifully painted, the furniture could be arranged just right, there are even statement artwork pieces hanging up on the walls, but somehow the room still doesn’t feel complete. If you’re currently in this design predicament, a great way to instantly boost a room’s aesthetic is to add plants! Plants are known to improve indoor air quality, encourage better sleep, and increase productivity! So why would you not include them in every room of your house?! Choosing the right plant for each space will not only breathe life into each room but will also bring the calming sense of nature into your home.

Before you rush to the store and purchase plants to go in every corner of your home, it’s important to know which plants will do best in each room. Taking each plant’s light needs and regular maintenance into consideration is key! Follow our plant suggestions to avoid the rookie mistake of thinking that any plant will thrive no matter where you place it within your home.

Kitchen

Kitchens are the heart of the home and adding plants can make the space even more inviting. Oftentimes, kitchens are filled with natural light, so it’s a great place to keep your light-loving plants such as succulents! A smart addition is Aloe Vera, as not only is it striking to look at, but it’s great to have on hand for an inevitable kitchen burn.

Kitchen Plant Suggestions:

  • Aloe Vera

Bedroom

Plants in the bedroom can help you sleep better. It’s true! They remove toxins from the air, increase humidity and produce oxygen for easier breathing. Great bedroom options include Sansevieria, also known as a snake plant. This tall and hardy plant will bring height to a bare corner and can thrive in the lower-lit areas of a bedroom. Just remember- low light does not mean no light! Be sure your low-light plants have access to some sunlight.

Bedroom Plant Suggestions:

  • Sansevieria

  • ZZ Plant

  • English Ivy

  • Spider Plant

Office

Whether you’re working from the office, or from away, office plants can boost productivity and mood, making your workday healthier and happier. Offices aren’t always known for lots of natural light, so stick with varieties that can thrive in lower light and won’t throw a fit if it misses its weekly watering. The low-maintenance Peperomia Rubber Plant is a great coworker because you can leave it in the office over the weekend without worries.

Bathroom

If a plant thrives in humidity and warmer temperatures and is native to tropical regions, there’s a good chance it will love living in your bathroom. Good options include different fern varieties and the trailing Tradescantia Zebrina.
