D.I.Y. Jute Plant Cradle
Materials needed: A spool of jute (can range from thin to thick), a ruler, and some scissors.
Step 1: Measure out your jute. Depending on how long you want it to hang, how many knots you want, and how long of a tail this length can vary. We recommend a length of 80 inches. Cut 3 pieces of jute to 80 inches, or your desired length.
Step 2: Fold your 3 pieces of jute in half. From the folded center, tie a knot about 2-3 inches from the end.
Step 3: Lay out your pieces of jute (as pictured) and number the individual strings 1-6. Tie a knot in strings 2 and 3. Depending on how long you would like the top of your hanger or tail depends on where you decide to tie the knot. After determining where to place the knot in strings 2 and 3, tie a knot in strings 4 and 5 around the same area as the knot in strings 3 and 4. Finally, take strings 1 and 6 and tie a knot at the same length as your other knots.
Step 4: Lay the pieces of jute back out and renumber the individual strings 1-6. Tie a knot in the new strings 2 and 3 about 2-3 inches from the top knot. Do the same with strings 4 and 5, as well as strings 1 and 6.
Step 5: You can repeat step 4 to create another layer of knots or you can tie a knot with all the strings about 2-3 inches below your last layer of knots.
Finally hang up your plant in your newly hand-made Jute Plant Cradle!
