Tropical Decorating Tips

Use these tips to make your indoor oasis feel complete!

  1. Vibrant colors- A tropical style needs some uplifting and fun colors. Think pinks, blues, yellows, and greens! Try adding in splashes of color with pillows, linens, wall art, lampshades, and smaller accent decor elements.

  2. Rattan and bamboo furniture- Incorporate warm and light wood tones by using natural elements such as rattan and bamboo into your furniture pieces.

  3. Jungle-inspired wallpaper- Why not feel like you’re actually in a jungle by surrounding yourself with bold foliage prints of banana leaves or palms!

  4. Lots of light- When you think of the tropics, you think of bright and warm sunshine! Take advantage of any natural light shining through your windows and use colors such as white and beige as base colors to help make the space feel light and airy.

  5. Embrace the animals- From monkeys and tigers to flamingos and parrots, collecting a handful of animal decor elements can make the space feel even more “wild”.

  6. Plenty of plants- To achieve the perfect #jungalow look, you’ll want to fill your space with a lot of plants. Adding an oversized plant or two can help create a true jungle feeling.

Tropical Houseplants

To make your tropical oasis complete, you’re going to need some plants! While many houseplants originate from tropical regions, there are a few staple varieties to include when trying to achieve a tropical vibe. From arching palms to large-leafed monsteras, look to include some of these plants to add an exotic touch to your space.

  • Palms

  • Banana Tree

  • Alocasia

  • Dumb Cane

  • Monstera

  • Philodendron

  • Calathea
