How to Make a DIY Succulent Wreath

If you’re looking to deck the halls with more plants this holiday season, this DIY succulent wreath project (that can double as a centerpiece) is just for you! With a few materials, a handful of mini succulents, and proper care,  you can create a wreath that lasts well past the holiday season.

To make a DIY succulent wreath, you’ll need:

  • 2 wire wreath frames

  • Craft moss

  • Succulent potting mix

  • Floral wire

  • Floral pins

  • Scissors or wire cutters

  • Mini succulents to fill out your wreath (we used 20)

Step 1:

Find a place where you can piece together your wreath. Be prepared! Between the moss and dirt, it’s going to get messy!  Then, lay out one wire wreath frame and fill it with moss. Be sure to leave some room for dirt.

Step 2:

Pour ½”-1” of succulent potting mix on top of the moss.

Step 3:

Place the second wire frame on top of your filled frame and secure the two together with floral wire. Tie as many knots as needed to keep the wreath frames in place.

Step 4:

Start planting your succulents! First, break away any excess dirt while keeping the roots intact. Then, firmly plant each succulent into the middle open section on the wire frame.

Step 5:

Use floral pins to secure your succulents to the wreath. Finally, fill in any empty gaps with extra moss and voila- you have a succulent wreath!

DIY Succulent Wreath Care

Whether you showcase your wreath on a door or use it as a table centerpiece, it can last months to come with minimal care. To water, generously mist the bottom side of your wreath with water or dip the bottom of the wreath in water for a few minutes. To keep your succulents happy, allow the wreath to completely dry out in between waterings.
