Wild Interiors Greenhouse Sustainability

When you think of a greenhouse, you may picture a bright and warm space placed in a tropical setting or a greenhouse that is only open during the summertime. But here at Wild Interiors, our greenhouses are based in Northern Ohio and are in service year round-even during the chilling winter months! So how do we keep our plants warm and cozy in the winter while keeping sustainability in mind? The answer is...by using recycled wood-fueled furnaces!

Keeping Plants Warm in the Winter

Our greenhouses are heated exclusively by wood-fueled furnaces. This means that all of our “fuel” comes from local tree clearing services and wooden pallet disposal. With the use of wood boilers as our heating source, we have been able to reduce the amount of emissions produced by natural gas and oil fuel by 90%!

Greenhouse Sustainability

Sustainable practices are a top priority at Wild Interiors. We are driven by the desire to grow exceptional and enduring plants that are a step above the competition and a step towards a better environment. Not only do we use recycled wood to heat our facility, but we utilize other natural resources to continue our efforts in conscious growing practices.

Some of the other natural resources include:

  • Retention ponds and holding tanks that collect and filter rainwater in a 100% self-contained sustainable irrigation system for all of our plants. These ponds collect about 1.5 million gallons for every one inch of rainfall!

  • The use of high-efficiency energy curtains, radiant heat, and high-efficiency lights throughout our facility have helped reduce our fuel energy consumption by 50%!

From heating our facility with recycled wood boilers to collecting rainwater in retention ponds to water our plants, Wild Interiors has invested time and money into more sustainable and long-term solutions. We believe every effort towards a better environment, no matter how big or small, is crucial in keeping our planet healthy!
